THE LIPKIT
by Lillian Africano

Winter’s cold is hard on the lips, as is the summer sun. That’s why Dr. Bruce J. Freund created the LipKit, a five-piece set of products that exfoliate, renew and revitalize the lips.

As a cosmetic dentist, Dr. Freund works with patients who seek a perfect smile. But, he says “it’s hard for a patient to get a perfect smile if their lips are consistently neglected. Your teeth and lips go together. You just can’t have a great smile with unsightly and unhealthy lips.” So—Dr. Freund opened the Lip Clinic and Spa in Englewood Cliffs, NJ (www.thelipclinic.com) to care for all the elements that make up a perfect smile.

A special feature of the clinic and spa is the LipKit, five products that can transform the lips from cracked and peeling to soft and full.

I tried the kit at-home treatment one evening, beginning with Lip Renew, an exfoliator that I massaged with my fingertips in a circular motion (exercise for the lips!). Then I washed with a cloth and applied Lip Dew, a Vitamin E stick. In the morning, after I washed and cleansed my face, I applied Lip Plumper, which gives a slight tingling sensation that signals something interesting is happening. I couldn't tell if my lips were actually plumper, but they did look good. I smoothed on Lip Fill to even out texture, followed by my usual lipstick. The final step and top coat: another tingly product, Lip Keep, which makes for a smear-proof smile that lasted through lunch and beyond--a very long time for me.

The LipKit is available at www.thelipclinic.com.
