Viviscal
by Marilyn Green --

Most hair thinning solutions center on procedures to add hair to the scalp, but Viviscal takes a nutritional approach.

Trichologist Vetta Thompson, the founder of the National Center of Trichology in Jacksonville, FL, a clinic that specializes in hair and scalp disorder, urges hydration, protein and calcium consumption the form of low fat dairy products and leafy green vegetables, plus omega-three fatty acids from fish, nuts and olive oil. However, she maintains that, when hair is showing weakness or thinning – which she says more than 40 million women are experiencing – it is necessary to go beyond careful diet.

Viviscal dietary supplements contain an AminoMar C marine complex designed to nourish thinning hair and promote hair growth. Thompson's childhood in Brazil was enriched by her grandmother's knowledge of natural herbs and remedies, and the supplements do contain fish ingredients, along with Horsetail Extract and Vitamin C drawn from the Cerola Cherry, with strong anti-oxidant properties. They are gluten-free and contain no drugs, hormones, industrial by-products--or Minoxidil.

Viviscal has been used for 15 years by both men and women in more than 25 countries, the company has found that it does not interfere with other medications; however, it is always advisable to check with your physician before starting a program of supplements. It is not recommended for pregnant women or people allergic to seafood or Acerola; those with greasy seborrheic dermatitis should not take it until they are cured.
"Viviscal dietary supplements contain an AminoMar C marine complex designed to nourish thinning hair and promote hair growth."

It takes six months to reach the maintenance stage; until then, users take two supplemental pills a day, with stage one nourishing the hair follicles, stage two strengthening existing hair, stage three producing the growth of hair that has slowed or stopped and stage four showing a better quality of hair. After a month of use, I did see strengthening and thickening of existing hair; quite a bit less was coming out in the shower or brush.

Viviscal Extra Strength and Viviscal Man run $50 for a month's supply, but there are discounted offers for larger orders. The company also has a line of shampoo, conditioner and scalp lotion.
