D’vine and Intoxicating: American Vinotherapy
by Marilyn Green --

"You press on the top, which has a hole just the right size to yield a rich face full, and still protects the product. It has a deep wine color and a scent so delicious I had to fight the temptation to use it more than the designated two or three times a week."

Wine-lovers may be tempted to taste the marvelous-smelling d'vine products introduced this year, but they shouldn't. Save these precious concoctions for the face and body; they are simply wonderful.

This new North American line of vinotherapy skin and body care products has lines for both home and professional use, products for men and women. What you get is double delight: they are a joy to use and the results are formidable.

The line is an offshoot of the practice of Dr. Ricard Mauer, an ophthalmologist who has long integrated his practice with aesthetic enhancement procedures, and Laura Root, one of the few diplomates of Zurich-based CIDESCO, a very demanding training program for aestheticians. Christina Milton, the company's International Director of Education, said Dr. Mauer's hobby is wine, and they found the results so quick when they began using them that they decided to share them.

The products capitalize on five skin nourishing ingredients: grape seed extracts, wine extracts, resveratrol, wine polyphenols and L-Tartaric acid, which collectively support capillary health, act as a radical scavenger, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, stimulates collagen synthesis, helps the body absorb Vitamin C, promote tissue elasticity and reduces swelling. Visually, I found that my skin brightened, became softer and firmer and forehead creases definitely diminished when I used the products.

The two cleansers have distinctive qualities: the Petite Surah Cleanser, with its luscious winey smell, is extremely effective in removing excess oil and is particularly great to use in hot weather. The Fume Blanc Cleanser has a milky texture and leaves a light, silky film of moisture on the skin after cleansing.

One of my absolute favorites: for toning, the Zinfandel Scrub works as a mask also. You press on the top, which has a hole just the right size to yield a rich face full, and still protects the product. It has a deep wine color and a scent so delicious I had to fight the temptation to use it more than the designated two or three times a week. It really does tone the skin, but without the tight feeling many toners leave.

The Tuscany Serum and Sauvignon Blanc Serum come in small, very potent vials. I saw noticeable skin firming results on the neck and face within two weeks; the company also makes a skin firming body lotion.

The men's Lambrusco line includes facial and body moisturizer, after shave balm and a combined facial and body cleanser that is both quick and effective, not to mention intoxicating.

The company prides itself on offering quality for an affordable price; the facial line is priced at $40-60 and the body line runs between $55-$100.
